i hate bandwagons

::sigh::
So I'm now on twitter.
Not because I want to be, of course, but because that's the best way to stay updated on sytycd and on musicians. See? I'm doing this for YOU!
Though I can't guarantee posting very often, follow me @loudheadphones

5,000

So here's the deal - I currently have 4,999 songs on my iTunes.
That means that my next song makes 5,000!

So here's the deal. Whatever my 5,000 song is, I'm gonna do a big ol' write up on the artist, talk about their other work, and do a whole post about this Five Thousandth song.

Yay!

really keri hilson?

So I guess Keri Hilson is trying to be Rihanna?
Check out the video for Return the Favor. The mirror scene is just like in Rihanna's SOS, and the water scene is exactly like Umbrella.

SOS - look somewhere around 1.13
Umbrella - can't really miss it, it's a good chunk of the video.

there's something strange going on in my head...

Hayden Panettierre is a total bitch.

I'm currently reading I Love You, Beth Cooper which is turning out to be a really awesome book. The movie is coming out soon starring Hayden Panettierre as Beth Cooper.
Somehow, in between Heroes and Beth Cooper, she managed to put out music(?!?!?!)
The song, Wake Up Call, is about how she's gonna have to cheat on her boyfriend so that he tries harder. Wow, what a great way to get a guy to dump your ass. Granted, I'd dump your ass for taking the island-esque beat to that awful Paris Hilton song (I just did extensive youtube research, and you won't find a legit version of Stars are Blind. It's like someone knew it had to go away.)

If you really wanna see a total bitch Hayden's song, here's the vid to Stars are Blind Wake Up Call.

I am from the moon this is my space accent

Marina and the Diamonds seems to be very Regina Spektor, whom I respekt but don't necessarily care for her music. She/They just released a video for her/their song I Am Not a Robot. It's... a really, really cool video. I'm not really into the song, but the video is damn neat. Check it out!

Spy vs. Spy

Sing it Loud has released a video for their single Come Around. What a damn cool video! It's... it's really neat. They clearly put a lot of effort into making this video happen. Thanks, Epitaph Records, for another awesome pop-punk band for my to jam my ipod with.
No, I'm not being sarcastic. Even though Sing it Loud is basically All Time Low on a different label, I really like All Time Low, so what's not to love about Sing it Loud?

Wreckin' Decks & Gettin' Sex

Okay, so I hate to keep doing wtf? posts, especially since I'm supposed to like music, not trash it.

Sadly, music keeps trashing itself.

Decaydance, the vanity label of Pete Wentz, recently signed a new group called Millionaires.

...

Imagine for me, if Margaret Cho were to turn her comedy act into a musical, and you have Millionaire's new single, Just Got Paid.

Imagine a classless versions of The Veronicas who drink a lot and have a fat third sister, and you've got their look.
$10 they're from either LA or New Jersey.
...

These three girls seem like a parody of themselves, but they're 100% serious.
If they had been released and were on any other label, I'd probably respect them an ounce more. The problem, however, is their music is everything the artists on the Decaydance label despise. All of their songs nowadays are a hit on rich celebrities who get famous doing nothing... which is exactly what Just Got Paid represents.
You can buy Millionaires entire EP, Just Got Paid, Let's Get Laid, off iTunes right now for just $1.99, which I think is $1.98 too much.

sytycd rules my life.

So You Think You Can Dance always inspires my playlists. Lemme give you a peek at the SYTYCD music scene.
...

Terry Poison - 24 Hours (Aston Shuffle A-Bomb Remix)
While this routine wasn't necessarily my favorite of the night (it was really good though) the song really hit me. I was like "hmm. I need this. I've been listening to this and the original version all night. Put this on your playlist!

Nadia Oh - Hot Like Wow
What an interesting song! It's very unique and powerful. Put this on your iPod, you won't regret it.

Kristina DeBarge - Goodbye
When the song that Goodbye samples came out, it was the biggest dance hit of it's era. DeBarge's version is very danceable, but not exactly versatile. This would have been killer as a Rihanna hit, but I think that it's kinda weak with DeBarge. We'll see how this train goes.

what the fizzuck?

Okay so wait... this is real?? Tinted Windows is a real band? WHAT??

Tinted Windows are: Taylor Hanson of Hanson (lead vocals), James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitar), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass), and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums).

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?

Next on WTF?, Taylor Swift has a new video out...
it's... uh... featuring T-Pain.
Yeah, I did use that sentence.
There's not enough words to describe this. It's... you just have to watch this.
It's called Thug Story.

I either want to hit her or respect the hell out of her.
The promise ring is still a bit of a turn off though.

...sounds like...

Okay, I've got some concerns. I always thought that "Thinking of You" by Katy Perry sounded suspiciously like Alanis Morrissette... and it finally hit me which song. The song in question is No Pressure Under Cappuccino. Listen for the "You're like a _____, like a ______" in the lyrics, similar guitarage/tempo/etc, and the quintesential Alanis "ahhh, ye da dai ai" (yes, that is legit onomatopoeia.)
Listen and let me know I'm not crazy?

just for fun

Thought you'd wanna see this.
Official remix of Waking up in Vegas, complete with music video (mostly the same as the old one, with a new new shots and deltaco'd scenes.)

My Life's a Movie - Call Me Martin Scorsese

You know I want you...

Pitbull's back with a new single, Calle Ocho (I Know You Want Me). I love Pitbull. It's probably not healthy how much I love Pitbull. With hits like Toma, Fuego, and Go Girl, killer verses in Feel It, Shooting Star, and Shake, and sick remixes of songs like Low, Cupid's Shuffle, and What Goes Around Comes Around, Pitbull has officially gotten into our heads. And I don't want him to leave!! To quote Mary Murphy, "WHOOOOOOOO!!!" I love my boy Mr. 305.

Wait... what? WHAT??

We've had a blog or two about how Lady Gaga is... well.. Gaga. Nuts. Insane. Not only is there now an iPhone app that'll make you look like Lady Gaga, but... apparently Lady Gaga is BFF with... no, you didn't guess right... Marilyn Manson. Yes, Marilyn Manson. WHAAAAAAT. They're apparently remixing each others tracks now. ...yeah, I don't really get it either. I don't even know what else to say, you just have to watch this.

(Shout out to vlogger heynaderz aka Hey Nadine)

(thanks perez)

I'm already drunk!
So the Pussycat Dolls apparently did another "The Pussycat Dolls presents" and I missed it. The result was apparently the Paradiso Girls. And.... ehh.
They got the rights to a Keri Hilson demo called "Hey Girl", originally featuring Lil' Jon and T-Pain. The Paradiso Girls' version is called "Patron Tequila" and... i just don't like it. And I mean honestly, it's not put together well. I still hear Keri from the original version. And no T-Pain... awwwkward. I honestly like Keri's version more. For starters, Hilson isn't flat the whole time. Secondly, T-Pain. Need I say more? But you can be the judge of that yourself.

(for some reason, I could only find this awkwardly sped up version. The download link should have the original.)

Also, I'd very much like to go see Boyce Avenue at the World Cafe in Philadelphia on June 28th. Anyone wanna come? I'm almost willing to go with strangers at this point. I make a hot date.

oh my god no way

liek oh my god no way.
In the recent issue of Rolling Stone, Adam Lambert came out of the closet. OhMyGodNoWayAdam'sGay? I can't fucking believe it. There's no way that his perfectly coiffed hair and pink lip gloss could have tipped me off. You know what definitely kept me in the dark about his sexuality? All the pictures on the internet of him in drag making out with men. That's what threw me off the most. I mean, what gay guy would do that? This is totally coming out of left field.

Seriously now.
Okay, the big question is "Did Adam Lambert's sexuality keep him from coming in first?"
I don't think that's the case one bit. If it had been a factor, he would have been kicked off long, long ago. In the long run, I'm more attracted to Kris Allen, and we all know that the only people that won the show due to talent are Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jordin Sparks - everyone else won because of personality or looks. The only other bigshot was Chris Daughtry, and he didn't even make it to the final three.
Now, I'm not saying that Lambert didn't have personality - I don't even watch AI but I knew everything about him like months ago. He's full of personality. So why did he lose? Do we really care? We know he's going to get a better career under a different label and won't have the AI execs financially raping him the rest of his life.
There you have it folks. I hate American Idol, I will never listen to Adam Lambert or Kris Allen. I will, however, keep you updated on my ungrounded opinions of which I am never wrong.

Throwback Blog #1

Aight guys, so every now and then, I'm gonna talk about some songs that you may have forgotten about (or, in some cases, wish you'd forgotten about.) Let's start this, shall we?

Ella, ella, ella, eh eh eh
Released in 2007, Rihanna's Umbrella was was a chart thrasher. Since then, the song has been remixed to hell, including remixes by Shaggy, Lil' Mama, Chris Brown, and Travis Barker; on top of it, the song has been covered by everyone and their mother including All Time Low, Boyce Avenue, and Plain White T's. However, thanks to its multitude of remakes and remixes, the original is getting cool again. I've seen it aired now multiple times on vh1 and mtv, signaling America's "okay" for hearing this overplayed song again.

My Heart is Crushed by a Former Love
Though The All-American Rejects have just come back into the swing of things with killer singles such as Gives You Hell and I Wanna, along with their newest track The Wind Blows, we can't forget where AAR came from. Their EP, Same Girl New Songs was actually chock full of strong unique tracks coupled with tracks that would later be re-vamped to appear on their debut self-titled album The All-American Rejects. I still count that CD as one of my favorites of all time. The second I heard Swing, Swing I ran out and purchased the album. My sophomore year of high school was all about this cd, until someone stole my cd player in gym class. In an attempt to download the cd again (the RIAA wasn't suing back then, folks) I accidentally the EP and fell in love. I managed to get a copy of the debut album, and still listen to it basically all the time. With the singles Swing, Swing, The Last Song, Time Stands Still, and My Paper Heart, this was truly an album to be reckoned with.

I dunno, Meth is a hell of a drug, Peter...
The Black Eyed Peas have made one hell of a comeback. After Fergie and Will.I.Am's solo careers, I was more than nervous for the return of the group. They've not only managed to pull it off, but they've also managed to reinvent themselves for a new era of pop artists. We can't, however, forget some of the beautiful tracks they've put out in the past - Hey Mama, Let's Get Retarded, My Humps, Don't Phunk With My Heart.... all total hits. Their newest single is called "I Gotta Feeling" and is definitely different than anything they've ever put out.

He pointed to his heart, mind, and ears.

Brown is Real
The All-American Rejects have a new video for The Wind Blows. Honestly, I've heard a good chunk of this album, and this is not one of the songs I would have put out as a single. My favorites are Another Heart Calls featuring The Pierces and Mona Lisa (When the World Comes Down). This song... I can honestly do without. Sorry AAR, I just liked your self-titled album best (though the EP Same Girl, New Songs had some catchy stuff.)

(for the life of me, I couldn't find an embeddable version of the music video. Sorry that I had to use this.)

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Adele has a new single called Hometown Glory. I first heard this song a year ago on the reality show So You Think You Can Dance (a show I will most likely be reporting on both blogs) and I loved the dance that accompanied it. While the music video is incredibly lacking, I can assume they didn't want to tear away from Adele's stellar vocals. While, for the most part, her music isn't exactly my style, no one can say that the woman can't sing. Considering she just turned 21 last month, she has a set of pipes that would make people who've been training for decades give up their profession. Watch the dance below, and check out her music video on youtube.

Album Review - All I Ever Wanted

Album Review - Kelly Clarkson - All I Ever Wanted

Kelly Clarkson's new album, All I Ever Wanted, may have been released back in March, but I only just got my hands on it. You'll just have to trust that I do more than blog, and wasn't able to get my hands on it.

Well, we can't talk about the new album without talking about the old albums, so we'll start there.
Let's forget about Thankful. Lord knows the rest of the world did. For all intents and purposes, Clarkson's career really took off with the success of Breakaway. A stellar album where every song could have been single, that album made everyone either respect or resent her. Since U Been Gone, originally slated to go to that kinderwhore Hillary Duff, became one of the biggest singles in the history of ever. Her following releases, Behind these Hazel Eyes, Because of You, and Walk Away all were beautiful gems.
Important Fact: Clarkson is only credited with partial writing credits for five songs from Breakaway.

Her next album, My December, was a huge source of controversy. While Clarkson was more or less in charge of the album, it failed to meet the standards set by Breakaway.
Important Fact: Kelly is credited with writing credits for every song on the album.

All I Ever Wanted is, so far, a huge success. I've listened to the entire album a few times, along with hearing the singles My Life Would Suck Without You and I Do Not Hook Up hundreds of time. This round, Clarkson has cut back on her writing and focused more on her performance. Collaborating with multiple producers and writers including Katy Perry and Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic) has given this album farther opportunity for lyrical and aural perfection. Whether Clarkson is proud of this album or not is unknown, but I personally think she has every right to be. For starters, the tracks I Do Not Hook Up and Longshot were both originally written and recorded by Katy Perry back in 2004. I'm thrilled that Perry passed her reins; Clarkson's versions offer so much more in energy and vocal prowess than Katy Perry could ever muster up. Teaming up with Ryan Tedder for Already Gone gives the track a feel similar to that of OneRepublic's Say (All I Need), with the emotion and raw power that only KC could provide. The album just wouldn't be the same without bitter breakup songs such as If I Can't Have You or solid bonus tracks such as The Day We Fell Apart. It retains it's strength as a party album with tracks like Whyyawannabringmedown, but allows Kelly to truly show her range and power with rock-ballands like Cry and If No One Will Listen.
All in all, I'm more than proud of Kelly's progress with this album.
Important Fact: Clarkson is credited on writing only seven tracks on the album (including the bonus tracks.)

Long story short, I definitely recommend this album. Get in on it!

Kelly has put out two videos for it so far, My Life Would Suck Without You and I Do Not Hook Up. Both videos were quite interesting. In My Life, KC shows that she's a crazy instigator in a relationship, and in Hook Up, I'm reminded that Kelly still won't have sex with me even though I wait outside her house with nothing but high hopes and a smile even though I have a completely healthy, non-sexual obsession with Kelly Clarkson.

Shake the Glitter off your Clothes

Hey guys.
Sorry I've been M.I.A. the past few days - I finally got Jam Sessions in the mail, and let me tell you it is addicting. I'm actually getting pretty good! I have a repertoire of around 26 songs!! Yay me.

However, to apologize for a missed week of blogs, today's post it what I'm going to start referring to as a "WTF" post. Sorta like my "monuments of disappointment" blog, but... stranger.

...yeah, I wouldn't be with you either.
So, #1 strange thing is the new music video by Rich Girl, an apparent Danity Kane knockoff. This video... I... I honestly wish there were words. Maybe there's just so many that I can't narrow it down. It's honestly a complete trainwreck. I've never seen anything so bad in my life. I mean, this is just... this is just awful. I mean... maybe rework the backbeat a little, and give the vocals a bit more of a range and the song could have a chance. The video... take it out back and shoot it. The "song" is called He Ain't With Me Now (Tho).

Glittery!
I want you to imagine the Backstreet Boys. Now, imagine they're all Robert Pattinson. No, not hot Robert Pattinson from Harry Potter, but scrawny, baked biter Robert Pattinson.
You've got V Factory.
But really though.... what the f#%&*? I... I can't even believe someone thought "hey, this is an awesome idea." This song/video is just.... buh.

She tango'd her way back into our hearts...
Lil' Kim is synonymous with Train Wreck at this point - it's no secret. She just got finished with Dancing with the Stars - so what's next for this talentless washup musical genius? No, I'm not being fair... all sarcasm aside, I really like Lil' Kim. It's just... well... she's the butt of a lot of my jokes. I definitely know all the words to her verse in Lady Marmalade. I have never listened to a song of hers before, but this one is something else. For starters, the track is technically Lil' Kim feat. T-Pain and Charlie Wilson... but not only is T-Pain uncomfortably absent in the video, but on mtV his name wasn't even listed in the credits - actually, neither was Charlie Wilson's. Derek Hough appears in the video though, but it's awkward since he's the only white person. Not only that, he's a white person that normally does ballroom dancing in glittery spandex, so he's really out of place.

I really don't understand what the music video world is coming to. I mean, I remember when making a music video was a huge, huge deal. Now, big stars get awkward crappy videos and small, awkward vampire boy bands get awesome videos for crappy music. And for all those that think that media doesn't tell us what to like or who to be, I got three words for you: The Jonas Brothers.
